Let’s Talk Reform
A federal judge in Florida has ruled that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is unconstitutional. What does this mean for HMSA and our members?
ACA continues to be the law of the land and HMSA will continue to abide by its requirements. The U.S. Justice Department has said that it will appeal the ruling and President Obama’s administration announced that the federal government and states should continue carrying out the law.
We will continue to monitor the legal activity around federal health care reform and inform our members if their access to care will be affected by events.
Discussions about providing access to care and controlling costs have been central to our philosophy and efforts throughout the 70 plus years we’ve served the people of Hawaii. We believe that everyone has a stake in the health care system and true reform will only happen with the active involvement of our community.
