The Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) and Kutmaster Spaz today appeared at a pep rally at Kailua High School to inspire teens to take the "Spaz go Challenge." The challenge is a health campaign that encourages Hawaii teens to incorporate more physical activity in their lives. At today’s rally, Spaz showed teens that physical activity and good health can be "off the hook," and he challenged them to get up, get out and get active.

The rally featured live entertainment, games, fun and prize giveaways. While the campaign is not about losing weight, Spaz told students that he has made a personal pledge to get healthy and lose about 50 pounds. He plans to do it with increased physical activity and proper eating, and he encouraged the teens to make their own pledge to get active and get healthy.

Genesis of the Challenge

In April 2005, HMSA launched its go Campaign statewide to raise public awareness about the health benefits of increased physical activity. Spaz, a local award-winning musician, producer and performer, emceed the campaign kick-off event, and was inspired to spread the campaign and its key messages to the teen community. Over the past year, Spaz has taken Spaz’s go Challenge into the community and high schools around Hawaii.
